Well, I had good intentions. I really meant to try to post more but then

My gateway drug was Coffee Prince. After reading the umpteenth rec of this, I had to start watching just to prove to myself that it couldn't be as good as everyone was claiming. It was. I lost count of how many times I rewatched certain parts of episodes 8, 9, and 10.

From that I moved on to Goong (for Yoon Eun Hye) and hated it. Loved Yoon Eun Hye and wanted to drop kick the male lead off a cliff. Lots of people appear to love this - why? The male lead is a cold and nasty bastard for almost the entire drama! The costuming is indeed gorgeous and Yoon Eun Hye is cuter than hell, but I ended up having to fast forward through large chunks of this.

So I looked for Gong Yoo dramas. I started with Hello My Teacher despite major qualms about the teacher/student premise. Loved it anyway. It starts very slow, but Gong Yoo's performance here is so charismatic that by episode four I was back to staying up all night to watch episodes.

The premise for One Fine Day was even iffier and with good reason. I watched the whole thing and want to scrub my brain out. Cheap melodrama with incest added in for fun. Ick.

At that point I kept hearing amazing things about Nobuta wo Produce. Didn't like the first episode much at all. Idiotic teenage boys in baggy clothes. But I was intrigued by Nobuta and by episode three, it was all over because I had fallen for Akira. It took me a lot longer to like Shuuji - nearly to the end of the series.

Kurosagi next - both Yamashita and Horitaka and a terrific premise. And it lives up to all of it. I love this one. Easily the best ending episode of any drama I have watched so far and a fantastic performance by Yamashita. Unfortunately, Horitaka has a pretty thankless role here, but at least she's sympathetic which is more than I can say for the other main female character (who can go with the guy from Goong right off the cliff). I can't wait for the movie next spring.

And on and on and on. Going to watch other Yamashita dramas now, but any recommendations would be much appreciated, if anyone has managed to get this far through the tl;dr.

Returning the favor then - it was your rec of Coffee Prince that finally tipped me over the edge into watching. Thanks!
